EXTRA! An accidental DOGE-hole
Maybe it's just me, but this $DOGEGOV memecoin site looks musky
Curiosity sometimes leads us into strange places. In the Oval Office press conference Musk said he’s being super transparent and publishing everything he’s doing. So I thought I’d take a look. However, I typed dogegov without the period and got dogegov.com … a well-developed site apparently equipped with e-commerce, apparently set up to sell $DOGEGOV memecoins … apparently just for educational and entertainment purposes, of course.
Maybe someone can answer this question:
Can just anyone use the name of a government entity for commercial purposes?
The department is apparently legitimate … created by an Executive Order.
Interestingly, 3 days before the above post, the DOGEGOV memecoin went to the Inaugural Crypto Ball.

DOGEGOV.com Website Buy/Trade
There is a scrolling footer at the bottom of this page tracking the price of the memecoin. Here are three screen shots as of mid-day 2/12/2025:
If my math is right 28,641 people have invested around $1900 each into these coins (actually probably a bit more since the price is down.) Who received that money? And did all those people really pay out $1900 each to “raise awareness of government spending and over-regulation” … and do they really have no thought of possible gain on their investment? And, if they didn’t, why does the bottom of the website look like a stock ticker tape?
And, if it actually is an investment, is there an agency left that can still protect investor interests?
The website states: “#DogeGov has no association with the official DOGE Organization. This token is a community-driven meme project designed to raise awareness of government spending and over-regulation. It has no intrinsic value or financial return expectations and operates without a formal team or roadmap. The token is intended solely for educational and entertainment purposes.”
DOGEGOV.com Website Memes
Not quite sure why they are offering so many memes, but I particularly like the blow up of Musk’s Special Agent badge:

What do these 28 people have in common?
DOGEGOV.com Website Shop Merch
Tshirts for 507.62 $DOGE or about $28 US. (I think)
Does anyone else think we are going to rue the day all those inspectors were fired?
Thanks for this encouraging comment: "Remember: for every Elon Musk wrecking stuff, there is a Jose Andrés leading World Central Kitchen that shows up at every disaster to feed people."👨🍳
Thank you for creating the visuals and tracking this. Yes, this is totally about getting people who can't afford it to turn over money to a place that is not part of any government oversight and goes directly into Trump and Musk's bank accounts. If these Bible-thumping Trump voting people actually read that book, they might focus on the line: There are none so blind as those who will not see.
