Blue or Red, we will go on
We have changed and have become more beautiful with the test of time
I’m considering re-inventing my Substack as the Practical Pollyanna. My first take on anything is optimistic, so I am looking at Tuesday as a Blue Wave. However, the practical part of me asks: What are you going to do if it goes the other way?
That’s not a pleasant thought … however, I think we, as a people, have been changed and empowered by the Harris/Walz campaign. We’ve experienced the joy of coming together and caring for each other. We’ve glimpsed changes we might make to bring our country closer to its founding ideals.
We’ve seen Joe Biden put country over personal gain, serving the American people for 50+ years while experiencing some of the most painful losses anyone can experience. He, and his presidency, will long be revered as a role-model of progress, effectiveness and patriotism.
We’ve seen heroes cross party lines to work for the good of ALL Americans.
We’ve laughed; we’ve danced; and, by Tuesday, we will have voted. And, as the Constitution states: the majority will have decided.
If Tuesday does not go our way, we will cry, obviously, but we will hold fast to our Constitution and begin again to work for the values we hold dear.
We will have recognized our strengths as a people.
We will go back to work, we will work to protect all of us, and, if not now, in the long run, WE WILL WIN!
I can't help but feel that the days following November 5th we will have a lot of MAGA crap to contend with. And, we will prevail. Maybe I too am a practical Pollyanna. I'm glad I'm in good company, Joyce.
Fingers crossed!
