If you stopped to count them, how many times have you started down the road of creating a new habit only to be side-tracked along the way … for whatever reason? If you have been walking the earth more than 2 or 3 decades, the number is probably a bit daunting. At least mine is.
The problem actually isn’t that you didn’t reach your diet goal, or that you dropped out of Spanish class, or the resolution that fizzled before February started, or your computer desktop that is still a chaotic mess.
The real cost of forgotten or discarded habits is the loss of trust in yourself, the growing belief that you are incapable of making a commitment and keeping it, that you must be weak.
There are two different types of habits: conscious and unconscious. We are only talking about the conscious ones … the behaviors that you have decided would be beneficial to your health or well-being if you did them on a regular basis. Interestingly, the goal is to do these behaviors long enough that they become unconscious, so they are just part of who you are.
You’ve probably heard the myth that it takes 21 days to form a habit. Not true. If you have a strong enough reaction to a behavior, one shocking experience can create a forever behavior. For most new behaviors though, studies show the average time to create a habit that sticks is more like 66 days.
"If you repeat something long enough, it becomes a part of you." -- Caryl Casbon
The main trick to creating habits is to be sure you want to, need to, create that specific behavior. The neurobiology of gratitude is overwhelmingly positive and Gratitude Mojo faces the issue of habit formation head on, giving you tools and tips to help create long lasting habits that support your growth into your authentic self.
This 10-minute video from Andrew Huberman, PhD, neuroscientist at Stanford, emphasizes the power of gratitude practice. The specific technique he mentions is built into the Gratitude Mojo system.
We’re getting close to launch, so here’s the overview of the process again. If you think you’re ready to jump in, there is a subscribe button below.

I just subscribed and look forward to sharing the extra PDF with my friend. I considered subscriptions for other friends, but now believe they will be more interested when they see & hear of my satisfaction & Gratitude insights.
I really needed to read this post today. Thank you -- I found it very healing and motivating. Also - isn't Huberman amazing?! I think I've listened to almost all of his podcast!
