Recently I fell into the endless rabbit hole of Facebook reels, those 30-second videos about everything from baking cookies to car wrecks to adorable puppies. Most of them are not worth the time, however, every once in awhile there is something truly amazing or inspiring. For me, there is an addictive quality to them, anticipating the next bit that might make me laugh out loud or say “Wow!”
Finally, I had to stop and ask myself why I was spending time in such a low payoff way. What values were in play? It came down to entertainment, novelty, surprise, learning (sometimes), and busyness … filling time when I was too tired to do anything else.
Part of the Gratitude Mojo journey is a simple exploration of values, and I had already done the Values TicTacToe exercise of my most important values. It was clear that Facebook reels didn’t satisfy any of those values, so I began substituting tea and listening to music during those winding down hours of the evening.
Most of us have done numerous values exercises in school or at work so the idea of doing another one may seem redundant. However, values can change over time so having a simple graphic that reminds us of what’s important to us and our lives can be a useful tool to expanding our self-awareness.
Gratitude Mojo, the journal and the newsletter guide: Gratitude Mojo the Path will launch October 23 and the next seven days will explain the details of the process and more about the amazing practice of gratitude.
The 10 Day Countdown is designed to help you decide if this is a practice that would be useful for you. So far, the feedback has been remarkable. Susan writes from Mexico: “What a wonderful gift to all of us! Thank you! The practice of gratitude has changed my life and this will enhance that journey. Muchas gracias!”
We’d love to hear your thoughts and questions as we proceed on this countdown to the official launch date: October 23, 2022.
