Nazis ... really?

That's who you want to be?

Simple Question

I’m a rather simple person and I have a rather simple question:

What is it about the Nazis that is so compellingly attractive that grown men want to emulate them? Did they forget how it all ended?

Yes, for awhile the Nazis got to goose step around shooting anyone who annoyed them. And, those stories about reigning for a thousand years sounded glorious even if their puffed up egos leaked noxious odors every time they Sieg Heiled. And, yes, they got to blame all their failures and troubles on the less than .75% of the population that were Jewish.

Yes, I understand that things were bad there. With the depression of the 1930s, about one-third of Germany’s work force was unemployed. Germans were desperate and they poured themselves into the arms of a dictator and gladly donned their swastikas and marched off to war … where over 5 MILLION German military personnel died.

However … our unemployment here in the US has been about 4% once we got past the pandemic, which killed over a million Americans. Also, during the past four years we created over 26 million jobs (yes, under President Biden).

Who knows how high our unemployment will go as Musk/Trump hack away at the work force keeping our government systems working. Add tariff uncertainties to the mix and suddenly recession or depression are being talked about. The economy doesn’t really like uncertainty and the Musk wrecking crew is going after the jobs of over two million civilian government employees. Even the ones who don’t lose their jobs are most likely going to think twice about buying a new anything for awhile.

Also, unlike Germany, we have safety nets to help people survive tough economic times … unemployment insurance, for instance … or will Musk trash that too?

Billionaires don’t tend to worry about details like paying the rent.

Hey, all you puffed up cosplay guys, in case you slept through that history class: the Nazis lost badly ... and have been reviled by all freedom-loving people since then. Isn’t there a Renaissance Fair you can go to?

And, here’s a fact you may not understand: there is no such thing as “winning” a war. That would be like saying you “won” a hurricane. Yes, it ended but then you have to clean up all the debris, begin the long haul of rebuilding, and grieving the dead. If you decide you want a war, remember that way too many people will die on both sides … and mostly the young men just starting their lives.

And, if you think you can just take your red states and create a White Christian Nationalist republic, you don’t understand economics. Are you going to buy those federal lands (parks, forests, military bases, etc.) highways, dams, airports, federal buildings such as post offices and court houses in your states? Since you would be a “foreign” country, you’d have to have a tax base to pay for all the services you need for your citizens. Right now you’re running in the red.

And, while MGT can call it a “divorce” it probably wouldn’t be a peaceful process. Last time it was tried, about 600,000 Americans died.

Wouldn’t it just be easier to figure out how to get along? Right now, the wrecking crew you voted for is going to do a lot of damage to all of us. While Musk plays Whack-a-Mole with our economy, the president-in-name-only is playing Chairman of the Board at the Kennedy Center. Is that really what you voted for?
