There is only ONE reason you need to show up Saturday at NO KING'S DAY
We need to see each other standing up, resisting for OUR country, for OUR democracy. We need to know we are together in this resistance.
Rich or poor, skin colors all, famous or infamous, young or old, gay, straight, or just odd … we are members of one country … we are Americans. We may have forgotten that. This is a day to remember what unites us. Beyond the tanks and weapons of war, beyond the towers tall and wheat fields golden, we are not only part of one country … WE ARE THAT COUNTRY … immigrant, native, citizen, resident … this is us … this is the US.
Saturday, June 14, is a day to stand proud, to stand together, to fly our flag and sing our songs.
Regardless of who you voted for, this day is about the Constitution that has held us together for almost 250 years. Come share our determination to stay one people.
If you are a veteran who has served this country, come if you can; but, let us stand in front and shield you if trouble arises. It’s our turn.
If you are an immigrant, documented or undocumented, come or stay home but please stay safe. It’s our turn to stand up for you.
EVERYONE ELSE … please show up, if there’s nothing official in your city, go to your local courthouse … or a school … or a church. Remember when we were known for our hard work and generosity. Remember when we were at the forefront of technology and education. Remember our good times and talk about how we can resist this threat to our American way of life. Remember …
I remember a teacher in Moscow talking about the generosity of Americans dropped winter coats to them at the end of WWII.
I remember sitting in a classroom listening to the courage of Americans as John F. Kennedy averted a nuclear crisis in Cuba.
I remember how the rest of the world came to help us in our moment of terror on 9/11.
We have never been perfect and we’ve always had differences of opinions, but we’ve always been guided by a Constitution which served as our moral compass. Remember that gift from our founders who fought a war so we would never again be ruled by a King.
What do you remember about being an American? When have you been proud to be an American? Join in on Saturday as we celebrate our history and protect our future by resisting the current efforts to anoint a king.
Very much as I've said in my post, The Trump Who Would Be King. This protest isn't for him. It's for us. https://robinreardonwrites.substack.com/p/the-trump-who-would-be-king
