Every moment, every now is one frame in a long movie, however, this one seems painted with a different color … lapis lazuli perhaps … literally stone/sky … earth/heaven … the source of ultramarine … the color of water … the color of life’s endless layers.
This moment is perched lofty enough to reflect back on what we’ve done to the world … what the world has done to us; low enough to need a ladder to peek over the edge and feel our desires pulling us toward something just out of sight.
This is time’s day. It knows we don’t know. It knows we are its subjects, bowing down to its whims, pleading for just a moment more when it’s kind; begging for an early end when it’s cruel.
While some say time bends, it doesn’t yield and seldom nods. So we stand here, hats in hand, heads bowed, hearts pounding, wondering if tomorrow will arrive and what delights and devils might lay just out of sight in its elaborately woven basket.
Today … this moment … what we really need is to pay attention.
Every day during this transition month, I will share a small bit of inspiration focused on ATTENTION. Rather than overload your email, they will be posted to Substack Notes … and gathered into a digital word-and-image book for paid subscribers.
Twice weekly posts are always free and will never be paywalled. The only tangible benefit of becoming a paid subscriber is immediate access to the digital books I make along the way. Last year there were 15 of these digital explorations; who knows how many will come your way this year.
The muse and I have an agreement … I follow her lead and she continues to bring new things that fascinate me enough to make these small word-and-image books.
And, one of the main points of all of this is to stimulate conversation, so I’d love to hear your thoughts on attention … or anything else that is going on in your world.
Paying attention to detail is something a lot of people have trouble doing
Allegra ... love "nudge word". and focus is a great one. I so agree about Wikipedia ... they get my $5 a month also and it's better than any cup of coffee I could buy. Thanks for your note and I'm missing an "Allegra" quote in my database ... maybe one on "focus"?
