"Writing for me is simply thinking through my fingers." - Isaac Asimov
Thinker Tool: WIBGI.
Carpenters need hammers, artists need brushes, gardeners need spades, and cooks need knives. The right tools help us do the job at hand better. Thinkers need tools, also, and this is a simple, powerful tool for any task that requires new thinking and creativity: Wouldn't It Be Great If ....
This is a tool that can be used effectively by individually and becomes exponentially powerful when used by a diverse group of thinkers focused on a shared challenge. It has been used by creative thinkers, individually and in groups, around the world, generating tons of ideas ... and laughter ... every time we've used it or seen it used.
Step 1. Identify a problem or situation that needs new thinking.
Step 2. Focus on that situation and write down 15 answers to the question, "WIBGI …?"
Step 2.5. Make at least 3 of the answers "impossible" or "stupid and ridiculous."
Step 3. Ask yourself if the impossible answers are truly impossible. Is there, perhaps, a nugget in the idea that might take you someplace new?
Step 4. Mark the ideas that excite you.
Step 5. Proceed ahead forward.

Wouldn't it be great if -- I/we could take action to make our dream come true. To own the dream and drive it home, picking up passengers as we go.
