"The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are."
-- Joseph Campbell
But, who are you? I wish I knew.
Over the years of gathering this mailing list, I’ve had the good fortune to find friendship with many of you. However, every week I throw out a lot of word seeds without knowing where or even if they landed or if they might sprout, as words sometimes do.
That’s okay.
Writing is how I process life so I’m okay with this being a primarily one-way street; however, I often think about you and wonder about your life and what’s important to you. I wonder if the world is being kind to you or if you’re weighed down with burdens. Do you wake up in joy or carry unshed tears in your heart?
I know you’re all busy … we’re all way too busy … but as we head into this lull before the holiday storm and another new year, I wonder if you might have time to share one word … or one sentence … about your life, your heart, your aspiration for this season?
Is there something you would like to share, not only for me, but also for your companions on this journey of gratitude? One of my fondest wishes for this project is that you begin to connect with each other and that, somehow, those connections nourish you.
If you need a more tangible prompt … how about … raisin?
