In the last several elections there are battling factions who get their information from completely different sources, and very few people are talking about, or planning truly concrete ways of getting necessary things done.
Big flooding devastation has occurred in the South due to our latest hurricane. What are you hearing about the federal response?
What is our leadership doing about the dock workers strike on the East Coast and Gulf Coast which appears to be looming (i.e. beginning 10/1).
(From a meeting of those who operate the power grid:) Our current power generation, even if all the coal fired plants are kept running, (including those scheduled to close soon), can produce 8% less energy than the projected demand this winter. What is the administration doing about this? More electric cars that are charged with coal?
The reality about abortion access: Absolutely nothing can stop it in the long term, since the pills are available by black market, telemed mail order, as well as in CVS and Walgreens. Since all D & Cs are legal everywhere once the embryo or fetus is deceased, then all hospitals are required to finish the job for anyone presenting after abortion pill failures, (for as long as the overwhelmed hospitals have staff). Those truly committed to abortion availability will either train themselves to provide abortions competently, or will fund them, just as the abortion opponents self fund their many thousands of 'crisis pregnancy centers'.
But the immediate supply of abortions will be impacted by the hurricane, the inadequate power available to the grid, and the dock worker's strike which will impair food and medical supplies to everyone.
I believe that more people need to begin thinking in more concrete terms, and acting concretely in order to survive.
Your list of important issues makes a great case for needing great leaders … competent leaders who care about all Americans and who have the intelligence and character to engage with the other leaders of the world. Harris/Walz is the only team that has those qualities.
I'm really not seeing any evidence that the energy shortfall, and the impending dock strike, nor the hurricane damage are being addressed by the current administration, of which Kamala Harris is VP. I feel that RFK Jr. would have been more able to address these things, and he certainly seemed more cognizant of foriegn relations issues. But lacking the SS protection that is normal for presidential candidates, it certainly wasn't safe for a Kennedy to campaign. My understanding is that he approached the Harris campaign prior to approaching Trump.
The vice presidential candidates are debating tomorrow, Oct 1. But yesterday, Kamala Harris made a statement during an interview suggesting that her selection of vice presidential candidate was a gut choice, made while she was low on sleep. What an odd thing to say just before the debate. Is another sudden change about to occur? The statements start around 40:35 during this "All the Smoke" interview, which also has a full written transcript.
Also, which of Kamala's previously stated positions on fracking do you think she'll stick with if she is elected in November, and how do you think it will influence PA, a high fracking state?
For me, it's unsettling to have so little concrete evidence that the pressing issues of this country are being addressed by the people who are supposed to be in charge.
I’m wondering … since it looks like the dock strike is ending after only 3 days and the hurricane stricken states are getting a lot of help … are you feeling any optimism?
It’s always interesting to hear different views and be directed to resources I’d never find on my own. I listened to the interview you mention (and thanks for the minute point) and heard a story of someone thinking back to what must have been a completely crazy time of having been thrown into the role of candidate for president. Suddenly everything was moving in hyper speed and she had to make a critical decision.
She’s a lawyer and a deep thinker so I’m sure she reviewed the resumes of the top candidates. I love Pete so I was paying attention to his actions and I know she met with him also. But she recognized a connection with Walz … she says they “came from the same people.”
This was a “personality interview” and she responded in the tone of the interview, about cooking and sleep or the natural lack of it with being thrown into the whirlwind. I did not hear any doubt in her voice or her telling of the process of choosing Tim Walz as her running mate.
And then you mentioned RFK Jr. and I realized that we are too far apart to continue the discussion. I love your posts and respect your path but it seems to me that there’s a raging fire in the attic and you’re worrying about a rust stain in the kitchen sink.
Probably you have discerned that I'm zero on personality, and very much dedicated to concrete solutions. Anyone living a farm has to be that way to keep things going.
Another rust stain in the sink, (in addition to energy, food and hard materials availability addressed above,) are the two blocked off quartz mines in NC which are the apparently the world's only supply of crucibles for refining silicon wafers upon which we all depend for just about everything now. (All computerized everything.) So I left a message on one of Kamala's pages, because that's an emergency issue that No one is talking about, and it needs to be addressed yesterday.
Above politics is the desire to get people to think about where the necessities of life come from, and begin pressuring the leaders to focus on allowing the infrastructure for continued supply.

I'll add a whole post to the list of "Why vote for her and not him," about the Project 2025 position on women's reproductive rights, which Harris supports. Trump can deny all he wants that he's involved in that battle plan, but we know better. https://substack.com/home/post/p-149220025?source=queue&autoPlay=false
Thank you, Joyce. Early voting has begun in several states. This election is in progress. This is the most important election in our lifetime. Vote blue, up and down the ballot. Vote in overwhelming numbers. Vote for Harris-Walz. Save Democracy and Freedom.

I think we should discontinue talking politics.

I will discontinue now.
Your breadth of knowledge intrigues and informs me … that will continue. And google lost it’s appeal some time ago. Take care.
Some people have social skills, and others are information dumpsters. 😎
It's good for all kinds of people to keep feeding each other's brains and not become locked in silos.
I don't like the man and think he is too old and egotistical to be president
She treats people with respect. He declares bankruptcy and doesn't pay his suppliers.
She keeps her head. He loses his head easily, with rage or flattery.
Thanks for adding to the list. Love both of them.
