We offer a prompt, and everyone makes a list of words (or short phrases) for 2 minutes. Random words, just a list. Then we each share a word from our list to create a community list. Then we write for 10 minutes: anything you want! Then we split into Zoom rooms to read what we wrote to an appreciate audience of maybe 5 people. Then we come back together and create an "Exquisite Corpse" poem from one line per person, chat a bit, and we're done in 1 hr 15 mins. If you go to imaginativestorm.circle.so/prompt-of-the-week, you can see two and a half years worth of prompts and what people wrote in 10 minutes. There are also quite a few pieces featured on the blog at imaginativestorm.com.
If you saw the little 1-minute video I posted last Monday, that was something I wrote in 10 minutes one Saturday -
Just experienced my first Imaginative Storm zoom writing adventure. It was great and I intend to make it a habit. What surprised me most was the joy I felt hearing others read their 10 minute writings ... and being able to read my own out loud. Thank you, Allegra and Nave for this generous offering.
Thank you, Allegra for that detailed description ... no wonder I thought it sounded fun. I'll put it on my calendar. I'll look for the video ... I think I missed it.
It's the Imaginative Storm Prompt of the Week session. You put a comment on one of my posts that said something like "That sounds like fun, I want to come and play!" Every Saturday 9 am PT for an hour.... it's free.
Thanks ... do we just write? ... I remember making that comment and thinking it sounded like fun but all those memory cells have gone walk about by now. ;-)
Beautiful! I wish you had the video too. Though I can see it very clearly in my imagination, maybe that's better than the video.... Gratitude is everything. Love that quote, too. Are you going to join us one Saturday? I think you'd really enjoy it!
it's reminiscent of cubism but not. at the heart, there's something? a vibrant stained glass pane perhaps? around it, a radial blur, everything seem to spin, converging towards the middle, a sensation of movement. hues are a rich, golden warmth. stark lines of brightness cut against the somber backdrop, bewildering but mesmerizing spectacle.
poem
Surprising. Shocking.
Moments are big. Joy is simple. Life is now. Feel it all.

What a great video ... on so many levels. Looking forward to playing with your group.

Allegra ... love the name but really am fuzzy about what you do on Saturdays.
Beautiful, Joyce. 💜
Thanks, Sue ... wish I had the actual video. It only struck me later and I couldn't find it again.
Well, there's something to be said for using one's imagination using your words to convey the message. Loved this. 💜

Thanks for unpacking the image ... images and words ... sometimes they dance.
