We humans are social animals; we like to hang out with our tribes. What does that mean, however, when there’s no campfire to sing kumbaya around?
Community is all about relationships and interaction. However, in our over-busy, information-flooded world, with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest and others to choose from, what would make another community choice unique enough, compelling enough, to bother interacting in one more place?
To answer those questions, I sat down with Professor Google (if you haven’t met her yet, you will … she makes several cameo appearances in Gratitude Mojo). Anyway, here are some of her suggestions:
Personalization - Who are you?: When you, the reader, comment on a post, you are offered an opportunity to create a mini-bio to help make connections with other members. Suggested form: name, location, what you’re passionate about, and a link if you have an online presence.
Be Friendly and Safe: Respond in a timely fashion and set boundaries. Ok, here is the rule: keep this a safe, caring place.
User-generated stories. That’s easy. I know there are writers and artists out there so we’re going to set aside Mondays for your stories. Real stories related to life lessons around gratitude and all forms of personal development … poetry, song, art, old family recipes, words of wisdom that came your way and made a difference. Best if accompanied by a photo or piece of art and max out at around 500 words (shorter is even better). Send your stories to info@gratitudemojo.com in pdf form for text and jpg for images. Family friendly, please.
Fun. How could we make this fun? Maybe there’s a fun ambassador out there willing to help us with this challenge?
Questions. No one knows everything; however, everyone knows something and sometimes that adds up to a LOT. We’ll ask questions and hope you’ll ask questions and maybe, together, we’ll inch up our collective wisdom.
Offer interesting, useful resources. The Internet is a fire hose of information, tools, and techniques. We will continue to bring you the best of what we find and hope you will let us know when you find something valuable to this journey.
Mobile responsive. Check. The Substack platform works pretty darn well on those small screens.
That should be enough to get us started. Let’s do a poll:
While we’re doing polls …
I listened to Hubermann on Gratitude tonight and got in touch with the value of my gratitude practice of giving out Thank you cards by Thoughtfulls which I buy from Amazon . https://www.amazon.com/ThoughtFulls-Pop-Open-Cards-Compendium-Different/dp/B093X61QDH/ref=sr_1_3?crid=21I831EF6H9XU&keywords=thoughtfulls+pop-open+cards+thank+you&qid=1667013916&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIxLjk4IiwicXNhIjoiMi4xNSIsInFzcCI6IjIuNDgifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=thoughtfulls+pop-open+cards%2Caps%2C136&sr=8-3
Hope this can be useful to you John M
Fun. The economics of gratitude: if I like at lease 3 of the site's 'reflection' posts, do I owe other followers at least one personal comment. Can we commit to follow AND share?
