The word that kept coming to me was “courage.” Lynne’s courage in her daily life, her love and her ability to face what comes next, is striking to me. What a powerful combination: gratitude and courage.
Thanks ... the photos coming in are pretty awful. Florida will be rebuilding for a long time. The mobilization of people helping is always inspiring though.
I'm new to this 'gratitude' way of thinking . Must say I am grateful to Joyce and Lynne for laying it out so I can truly understand what real gratitude is and what it can do in one's life. The eloquence of Joyce's writing, her quotes, her prayers, like all us, for Lynn and Mary's safety, makes looking up at the clear blue of Atlanta's sky and hearing on the newscast that Ian is going to now mostly pass us by (a big change from the original forecast), I can very loudly say I am so very grateful!
Oh Joyce… I’m just sitting here in the Vons Parking lot waiting for Zelda to be done at the groomer and thinking about Lynne and Mary. Feeling rather helpless because…it’s what I do. Help. But after reading your eloquent, heartfelt, and beautifully written post I will be making a 🐝 line directly to my gratitude journal when I get home. 🙏🙏 You are a good and true friend, Joyce. Maybe we can help them together when the worst is over. We’ll figure it out. ❤️💫
Judy, thanks for your note! I would love to figure this out ... the worst part is the waiting to see what's going to be. I can't imagine having to be there waiting and not knowing. Many hugs!
"We are safer and happier when we care for each other in community, when we do things for each other. If we recognize mutuality, we experience gratitude as central to civic life. When we work together, when we share, and when we care, there is enough for all. We appreciate each other for what we all contribute to flourishing communities." -- Diana Butler Bass

Thanks, Susan ... I'm not sure when she'll get it, but I've passed your comment on to her and I'm sure she will appreciate it.
I am keeping a candle lit for those running from the storm, and those running to assist them.

Glad you're escaping Ian ... last I heard winds were *only* 120 so may it go gently tonight.

Agreed. 💐
This quote seemed so perfect:
