Every day, I do a series of stretches that I learned 40 years ago in Aikido class here in Japan. The teacher was a Shiatsu practitioner, so we learned acupressure as well. Recently, we bought one of those frame things you can hang from and do arm push-ups on. I can see the effects of that in my upper body muscles. Feels great to have more strength at 66 than I did 10 years ago! (At least that’s what I tell myself. 😉)

Thanks for the article, Joyce, and all of the wonderful suggestions!

I love these! Thank you. Especially your point on exercising for 2 mins as you clean your teeth. My two minute drill morning and night is holding a deep squat for two minutes. LOVE it.

Then when I'm filling water containers from the fridge water filter, I'll do a squat or a heel raise or ten/twenty (depending on the size of container I'm filling).

Vivien … great squats! Being a photographer who often needs to squat for a shot, I am committed to squatting to stay in shape. Love your thoughts on this.

Good ideas all! Amazing about your friend who plays pickle ball at 85! And how she believes her regimen helped keep her on the planet after pancreatic cancer. A nice post, thanks Joyce.

I must admit that the thought of playing competitive pickleball at 85 was a llittle disturbing. ;-)

Upon awakening in the morning I stretch my arms and legs like I did when I was a little kid. It feels great and is a wonderful way for me to greet the day.
