On this day when we celebrate presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, we should be grateful that, on the whole, we’ve generally chosen good leaders. In this election year, we are facing a monumental choice that could radically alter our future.
Our ballots on November 5th, most likely, will include two well-known names to choose from for the office of president, the head of the Executive branch of a governmental system of checks and balances carefully constructed to avoid corruption by providing each branch of government with individual powers to check the other branches and prevent any one branch from becoming too powerful.
Project 2025 is designed to disrupt that balance of power …
and create a power base that is election proof …
serving wealthy, white, and corporate and Christian-only interests.
The focus of this series, is not about either candidate who will be on our November ballot, but rather one organization that, in collaboration with 80 other conservative and Christian organizations, has created a massive document outlining a plan for “Building now for a conservative victory through policy, personnel, and training.”
How innocent that sounds, forgetting of course, our country’s original intention, hammered out by our founding fathers as we broke away from the idea of an all-powerful king who would rule our lives.

menpeople are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.—That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted amongMenPeople, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. — from the Declaration of Independence
The wealthy Heritage Foundation, the conservative think tank and wannabe king maker sponsor and promoter of: Project 2025: Presidential Transition Project seems to have ignored our original intention to create a government “of the people, by the people, for the people.”
This 900-page document details a take-over process that would focus a new administration on systematically dismantling the current governmental structure, including, as Wikipedia states, “slashing U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) funding, dismantling the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, gutting environmental and climate change regulations to favor fossil fuel production, and eliminating the cabinet Departments of Education and Commerce.”
The plan has four stated goals:
Restore the family as the centerpiece of American life and protect our children.
Dismantle the administrative state and return self-governance to the American people.
Defend our nation’s sovereignty, borders, and bounty against global threats.
Secure our God-given individual rights to live freely—what our Constitution calls “the Blessings of Liberty.”
MS. magazine reports: The contradictions are glaring:
The authors of “The Conservative Promise” claim to support equality, while advocating for dismantling the government agencies that enforce laws ensuring equality, such as Title VII and Title IX of the Civil Rights Act.
They claim to support freedom and liberty, while advocating for a total ban on abortion, rolling back the rights of LGBTQ people and closing the border.
They claim to support free speech, while advocating for banning any mention of “critical race theory” and “gender ideology” from schools and other societal institutions.
They claim to support the working class, while calling for tax cuts for the rich, elimination of labor protections and deregulation of big business and the oil industry.
Disclosure: I am a concerned, unpaid citizen, a grandmother, and a registered Democrat. I believe Project 2025 is a plan that could kill the democratic form of government which has allowed the US to grow and prosper as a nation for almost 250 years.
Rome fell, however; so could we.
Project 2025, the operating plan backed by the GOP and represented by its candidate Donald Trump, could be the beginning of that fall.
