Thanks for the mention Joyce and I hope Substack gets the welcome email thing working as it should.

Looks like you've got a lot of interesting posts here. I'll need to dive in more!

Victor ... I'm doing a lot of web-only posts with the idea of pulling them into a logical order for periodic guides related to the Reader Engagement Process series I have underway. Would always appreciate your feedback.

All good stuff, for sure Joyce. I tend to approach things with the certainty that I can be in charge of what I write and when I publish it, etc., but the rest is out of my hands, that is, whether people engage with it or not.

I'm grateful to have the platform, and I try to keep an open mind on improvement tips from others such as yourself. Will keep diving in and offer my feedback if I'm able.

Your headline sucked me right in. I was actually thinking it would be a higher percentage, and then thought, how are they able to measure that? Thanks for combining these resources.

Thanks, Brian for noticing that bit of whimsy ... my brain was thinking along the same lines when I suddenly realized I could just make up a statistic (since I couldn't find a real one) as long as immediately said it was made up. I think I'm going to be a statistician from now on. ;-)

Thank you, Michael ... the more deeply I go in studying this element, the more important it seems.

Thank you for the mention, Joyce! Yeah, I've found the willingness to 'go first' in an interaction, to reveal or share our deepest truth, naturally seems to invite others into whatever it is we're doing and can lead to deeper connection between people. Whether that's sitting down to discuss something with our partner, or writing a communication to a new subscriber. It's a powerful form of leadership. Of course, people have to click the email to open it and read it, but that's another story.

Right, off to write my welcome email now hah! I had just logged in for this when I saw the notification. :)

Joyce! Thank you so much for the mention. I keep noticing you and I circling around the same places here on Substack. And it feels like lovely company to be in.

Your title cracked me up! I love made up percentages. And this one feels right. ;)

Thank you so much for the mention, Joyce! Yeah, welcome emails feel so powerful if they can just be tapped into properly. I get the arguments around how few people take the time to read them, but - if we spend zero time making them not-boring, isn't that just teaching everyone to ignore them? Feels like a circular argument where nobody wins...

It just amazes me that anyone can dismiss the power of the first email received by a new reader. Thanks for taking your stand. I am right behind you.

Meridith ... I understand the problem ... and occasionally I've gone in after they're done and just read through them and found amazing stuff. Not quite as crazy but people are still responding so it's not completely lost.

I can never attend these. I’m in Australia and the time zone difference means that these happen in the middle of the night, our time.

I know it's hard to be on a different time schedule ... however, the information is still there to be seen. People still engage with the information long after the official Office Hours are closed. I will try to keep summarizing some of the high points.

It really is a great conversation in office hours when you have the time to join in a bit. Thanks for the interest in that post which I expect to have up in the next week or two.
