Issa is my favorite haiku writer; here is one of my favorites! I love it that he does what he wants with form. I read somewhere that Japanese haiku doesn't use the strict 5-7-5 and their syllables are different than ours. But it all works - and Issa is a master at making it work.
"Birth ends a long dream,
gives us a green path moment,
then starts a new one."
I love your haiku poems enticing and inviting us to write haiku!

towhee squeezes into
blueberry house - eats so much,
almost can't get out!

jewel-green hummingbird
clings to fence, flapping her wings,
loves her hose shower

bumblebee hum -
surround-sound symphony
plays my heart-strings

who says I can't
use commas, semicolons

Car broke many weeks ago.
My meditation?
Walk, grumble, walk.
How fun ... love the range from birds to broken cars!
durn it. i can't get substack to leave spaces between all the haiku. sorry about that!
Substack is sometimes stubborn like that . I often use *** to break lines when it won't.
great tip; I'll try that!
Looks great!
pretty white flower;

Don't worry spiders;
I keep house
casually
Love the spiders one ... and they do seem to break the form in the most lovely way.
Oh how fun Joyce! You are so very creative!
Jeanine … thank you ;-)
Patty Graves wrote this haiku in our Saturday Prompt of the Week session, and I quoted it in WRITE WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW:
Nothing is working!
Foreboding of my failures
Swallowing me whole
Just goes to show, you can even write about not knowing what to write!
Thanks, Allegra and Patty!
Pea pods snap open
My wife winces, startled -
The violence of food.
Mustard seeds crackle
But the oil is the wrong one
India is far from me.
(Thinking about dinner, I guess. Making dal with fresh green peas in it ).
Thanks, Caroline!
The dog walks slowly
On floors made shiny last night
Th coffee tastes good
Thanks, David!!
