Joyce, I restacked this nice piece, with the following cautionary comment: Let’s face it, only Luddites are NOT going to be using AI to help their writing. BUT please BEWARE OF the tendency to LOSE some of your creativity expression, because of NOT USING AS MUCH of your OWN creativity muscles. (Like when you started using GPS as a convenient guide for getting places, but started to LOSE some of your own ability to remember exactly what turns you took to drive there, yourself.) Best, Shughy -- :-)
Shughy … thanks for the reminder and GPS is a perfect metaphor. I’ve often said I wanted to start life over with GPS since a significant portion of my life has been spent being lost. However, with GPS, I found a new confidence in going to new places, knowing I could get there. However, on a recent road trip, apparently in a out-of-range area … and night! … and no maps … I had a rather scary reminder that I shouldn’t delegate my sense of knowing where I am completely. There’s a similar thing going on with AI.
Thanks for this. I edited for most of my professional career and felt I got better near the end. Talking with a writer about the piece or — even better — just talking and listening about writing can be so helpful. Talk before the writing starts. Better than blasting thru the piece and leaving a ton of notes.
I’m with you my friend. She gives me concrete examples and ideas on how to best say what I want to say and always encourages me. Like you, I work on my first draft and then invite her to weigh in. Woo hoo!

Thanks, Keith!
Thanks. You are the second person this week who shared positive uses of AI… Sometimes the Universe shouts at me… yay 👏
Sara … wishing you lots of fun playing with it!
