Joyce, thank you so much for posting this song. I hadn’t heard it before. I will add it to the of songs to cover in "Social Issues in Song" for students to read about! https://louisehaynes.substack.com/

I LOVE this, Joyce! Thanks so much for sharing. I've been caught up in the Kamala joy, and this expresses that so much. She should play it at one of her rallies.

Deborah … I agree and tweeted that into vastness of X. That would be so fun to see it be part of the program.

This is stupendous! It’s made my day certainly. Lord knows we’re long overdue to have smart, strong women lead this fine country. I believe we can make it so much more than what it is today. Let’s get that woman where she needs to be; IN CHARGE!!

Women have led nations notably well, in case anyone somehow needs any evidence. Did Catharine the Great pale in comparison next to Peter or Alexander II? Hardly. Elizabeth I and II were both notable rulers, with the latter coming to represent the ideal modern constitutional monarch, and the former shaping modern England into what it is today.

Eleanor Roosevelt was tasked with leading the burgeoning UN, the largest organization of human beings ever anywhere. I say she did all right!

This list could go on for a long time.

I immediately thought of Indira Gandhi.

Good one! On a less friendly note, Margaret Thatcher was widely respected internationally, and she made a lot of consequential decisions. Agree or disagree (I mainly disagreed), she was a boss!

One can disagree with her policies and still recognize she was a good leader. She had to deal with a fractured party and turned them into a force. Her policies weren't any different from Reagan's, what she did was part of a world-wide movement. I certainly admire what she accomplished.

Similarly, I hate the majority of Reagan's policies, but recognize that he (and Thatcher) shaped the world in dramatic and important ways. Agree!
