ICE have been coming and taking our people away, destroying work crews and families and small businesses. I am gutted and filled with sorrow. These are friends, families whose children I did art with in the schools. I went to their parties, quincineras. All I saw was hard-working, loving parents and well behaved children and teens.
A lot of yesterday's rally here for us was for immigrant rights. I could not attend. Will be attending a workshop today - hoping it includes some training and script.
My heroes are the unsung: A driver who knew the Constitution and the law and who risked his own safety to NOT let ICE take his passengers who were going to court to try to stay. ICE couldn't touch them - that time - because they didn't have a judicial warrant. They threatened to come and arrest him for harboring illegal 'criminals' - no due process for any of them, shipped directly on buses to detention centers. Mostly men, leaving distraught families here. Many of these folks have been paying taxes for years, trying for legal status and being put off indefinitely, for years or decades.
Thanks, Joyce, and all who are caring, doing something, anything.

I’m so sorry you’re having to see that. Cruelty seems to run deep in the MAGA soul. Thanks for being part of the resistance.
It was good to see a room full of other concerned citizens today. Things are starting to happen and that is good.
I love reading what you've written. Senator Booker's speech gave my hope a boost, too.
Thanks!

Thanks, Roger. Every time I think of what he went through, I get a boost.
Finding fellow travelers always makes the trip better. Thanks for sharing the Chalk Prophet.
Love the cartoon!
Yes! That's why I'm on Substack and BlueSkye.
Thanks, Anne, we are fortunate to have two great places to gather.
We ought to find out who owns Substack and BlueSkye. Just so we know who the shareholders are. Not that we should shut up, by any means! ;)
Shortly after I joined Substack, they offered writers a chance to invest a bit, so I am one of the tiniest of owners. ;-)
that's great, Joyce. Thank you!
