Yesterday, I read a post advising to consider if readers are reading in the app or in email. If email, then images aren't a great idea as providers are more likely to send them to the spam folder.
I really don't want to break out of the visual aspect of my posts and sometimes I want to feature my photographs, as I see them as an important part of what I'm trying to do. And my posts are longish, so I like to break it up.
On the other hand, images seem to contribute to the 'this post may be too long for some email providers' phenomenon (which I've had for every post so far). I have, 'til now, aimed for a good look on the web, which may not be so appropriate for email readers nor phone app users. But when I looked at the reach info, I was pleased to see a surprisingly high number of reads (often higher) on the web compared to app and email.
Having gone back and forth, I think I'm firmly on the side of great graphics!
It is true that most readers seem to be reading on email ... mine seems to be in the 85% range. I may start putting a note in the email header ... but I'm not giving up graphics! Thanks for your note.
I like it. If I'm stumped, I often turn to images to help me tell the rest of the story. I think my stuff is inspired by comic books and other visual media I grew up with, and that shows in the way I publish stuff. Images are incredibly important!
Thanks Joyce - for some reminders AND new ideas.
This post has cheered me up.

Thanks ... and I'm always drawn in by the graphics you use.
Thank you. I especially appreciate the reminder to use alt text.
I needed this reminder too!
