Very nice article - I especially like the quote - "The reality is that you can't selectively numb emotions" Which one of us has not tried that? It is certainly not a sustainable strategy

Thanks for the post and the Emotions chart. I will use it with my seniors writing class.

I would love to hear how that goes! Could be story prompts also ... when was a time when you felt ... x emotion?

Does feeling tired/fatigued/depressed count as an emotion?

I am experiencing a lot of this and don't like it as I respond to them by more daytime napping than I am comfortable with. Suggestions welcomed

Hi John, As a Physician Assistant for 30 + years, I've seen symptoms of feeling depressed and fatigue originate from mild, all the way up to serious, underlying disorders. Unless you've had a negative evaluation for this by your Dr in the recent past, ASAP would be the time to have your Dr check you over.

I like this post. You are correct, we often push our feelings down instead of embrace them. I always remind myself that I'm not responsible for my feelings, only my actions. And that I have good reason for my feelings, even if I can't remember what those reasons are. Many are buried, but it doesn't mean they don't exist, which is why it's so important to be gentle with ourselves and our feelings. 💟
